My alarm goes off…
Alarm goes off at 6:15 then gets snoozed a few times, then up, showered, ready and leave for work at 7am for a 35-mile drive and an 8am start.
Iām responsible for…
Maintaining and looking after the properties and buildings on the estate, checking them for any defects, repairing or fixing any issues that may arise, and upkeeping & upgrading them to a high standard for our Members & guests.
I got the job…
I used to work in a care home in Greenock for over 10 years doing maintenance and was looking for a change. I saw a job at Loch Lomond advertised and I thought I would go for it. Even if I got an interview to go up and see the place and hear about it.
I got an email a few days later to say I had got the job and I couldn’t keep the grin off my face for days.
My typical day…
The maintenance team get together first thing in the morning when we arrive, and we speak about what tasks we are going to do that day and in the coming days. If there are any functions or events on from birthdays, BBQs, Baptisms or Bar mitzvahs – we will help set up any tables, gazebos or awnings needed for these events.
My most memorable moment…
I have a few…
Coming to this wonderful place as a young teenager to watch the best golfers in the world tee it up at the Scottish Open and to carry the scoreboards for the players.
Getting to play it a few times later on in the year because we helped at the Scottish Open earlier in the year – and finally getting the email to say I had been offered a job at Loch Lomond Golf Club was the best email I have ever received. Dreams do come true.
The best part of my job…
I love every part of it! We have a great, enthusiastic team and every day is different and combining all of that and getting to see the scenery that Loch Lomond has to offer is just amazing.
After Work…
I drive home and have some dinner, then play games with my daughter. Me, my wife and daughter will take the dogs out for a walk around the village and along the local beach.
I love DIY so I am always pottering about the house, working on my next project (my wife is going to kill me for not sitting at peace) or in the garden doing something.
I am also an avid golfer so like to get a few holes in at the weekend or when I’m finished all of the above.
My Plan B:
I don’t have a Plan B as I’m planning on staying here until retirement š
