Loch Lomond Golf Club’s Greenkeeper Modern Apprenticeship Programme provides amazing opportunities for those who love golf, are enthusiastic to learn and understand what it takes to present a golf course with excellent putting and playing surfaces, and are looking for a career in Golf Course Management.

Our comprehensive, 3 year programme allows you to combine on-the-job learning and work based assessments, along with a day release to college, leading to a Sports Turf Level 2 and Level 3 SVQ Qualification, and preparing you for a rewarding career in Greenkeeping.

Whether or not you have experience in Greenkeeping, the objective of our programme is to create a foundation on which you can build your career.  Under the watchful eyes of our experienced Golf Course and Assistant Golf Course Managers, you will be trained in all areas of Greenkeeping, from turf management, mowing techniques, equipment operation and maintenance, to drainage installation and construction projects. You will have the unique opportunity to watch and learn from a team of Greenkeepers already skilled in their field, and ask questions along the way. As your apprenticeship programme progresses, you will be exposed to further golf course operations, participate in projects and take on your own responsibilities.

Our training programme includes:-

  • USGA greens and tees management
  • Daily golf course tournament standard set up
  • Turf grass trials and data collection
  • Integrated pest management (IPM)
  • Drainage installation and construction projects
  • Estates and environmental management
  • Operation and maintenance of extensive fleet of equipment
  • Problem solving and thinking on your feet
  • Self-development of your knowledge and skills
  • Building on the passion and the love of the job you do

  • Modern Apprenticeship Qualification
  • SVQ Level 2 Sports Turf
  • SVQ Level 3 Sports Turn
  • IOSH – Institute of Safety & Health

In addition to salary, 30 days holiday per year, end of season gratuity payment, uniforms, complementary meals and staff discount benefits and golf, we can also arrange accommodation.
